H5 Appoints Former General Counsel of Shell Oil Company to its Advisory Board
Former Shell Oil Vice President and General Counsel S. Allen Lackey brings industry expertise to document review services and risk management firm
SAN FRANCISCO — May 31, 2007 — H5, the leading provider of automated document analysis and information risk management services for the legal industry, today announced that S. Allen Lackey, Esq., former vice president and general counsel of Shell Oil Company, has joined its Strategic Advisory Board. As a member of H5’s advisory board, Mr. Lackey will help shape H5’s strategy in addressing the information management challenges of large corporations in the energy industry and beyond.
“We are very pleased to have Allen join our Advisory Board,” said Nicolas Economou, H5’s CEO. “His decision to join us is a testament to the effectiveness of our offering, and without doubt, Allen will lend tremendous value and insight to H5 as we expand our offerings in the energy sector.”
Mr. Lackey was involved in a wide variety of legal and business assignments during his 32-year tenure at Shell. As Shell’s general counsel, he was concerned with the cost and inefficiencies associated with complex litigation. This concern led to efforts to replace the standard hourly fee with incentive-based fees and the creation of a document management group to reduce costs and improve production procedures. After participating in a major restructuring of Shell’s U.S. operations, he served as a member of the boards of directors of Shell’s principal businesses and was a director of the joint venture company that held the U.S. marketing and refining assets of both Shell and Texaco. Since retiring in 2000, Mr. Lackey has maintained his involvement with the energy industry as an arbitrator and expert witness in oil and gas matters.
Mr. Lackey joins a host of notable academic and business leaders advising H5, including Professor Arthur R. Miller, Bruce Bromley Professor of Law at Harvard Law School; Stanley Stroup, Esq., former general counsel and executive vice president of Wells Fargo & Company; Richard Horning, Esq., principal in the Venture Technology Group in the Silicon Valley office of Fish & Richardson; and John C. Dean, former chairman and CEO of Silicon Valley Bancshares and Silicon Valley Bank.
